A Taste of the Philippines is the first Filipino mobile restaurant in Colorado owned and operated by Philippine native Kathy Vega. A Taste of the Philippines was established on October 2011 and opened the cart "window" on April 16, 2012. Kathy's vision for the food cart was to introduce the Filipino culture through Filipino cuisine. Since opening, the food cart had caught the eye of 5280 Magazine, Zagat Denver, 2014 Dragon Chef winner, Downtown Denver, Hudson Gardens Concert Series, Asian Avenue Magazine (named Best of Filipino Food 2015), loved by YELP! reviewers, raved by multiple food blog sites and seen on Food Network's hit show Cutthroat Kitchen Season 8 (Best of the Worst) AND Season 11 (Naught or Nice) and CHOPPED season 31 (Cheap Eats).
A Taste of Philippines moved headquarters to Chicago, IL spring of 2018. We serve at various farmers markets throughout Chicago and also available for catering! About the "Chef"
Kathy Vega was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. When she is not cooking, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their adorable baby girl. She also enjoys being outdoors such as urban hiking, snowboarding, cooking and reading. During her down time, she spends her time traveling in the Philippines where she donates portions of her sales from the catering and food truck to feed the Binunsuran Elementary School in Camiguin Island, Philippines.
